You have something to say.
It’s time to learn how to say it well.
The Basic Writing Course is an 8-week online programme for anyone who has always wanted to write — and is finally ready to do something about it.
You’ve had the ideas. The stories. The things you’ve wanted to put into words for longer than you can remember.
Maybe you’ve started something and abandoned it halfway. Maybe you’ve told yourself you’ll write “when you have more time.” Maybe you’ve read something and thought — I could have written that. Maybe you’ve already written things, quietly, privately, not sure if they’re good enough to share.
Here’s what I know: the gap between the writer you are and the writer you want to be is not as wide as it feels. What it takes is not talent — you likely already have that. What it takes is guidance, practice, and the confidence to show up on the page as yourself.
That’s exactly what this course is designed to give you.
WHAT IS THE BASIC WRITING COURSE?
The Basic Writing Course is a structured 8-week programme that takes you from wherever you are in your writing journey to a place of genuine skill, confidence, and clarity. It covers everything from the mindset of a writer to the mechanics of great prose — taught live, online, in a community of people who are on the same journey.
It is open to complete beginners and developing writers alike. Whether you have never finished a piece of writing in your life or you write regularly and want to take your craft seriously, this course was built for you.
The details:
- 8 weekly sessions, every Thursday from 7pm – 8pm
- Begins March 12, 2026
- Held live on Zoom
- Free for the first cohort
- Certificate awarded on completion
- Minimum commitment: attend at least 6 of the 8 sessions and submit your assignments
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
By the end of 8 weeks, you will have covered these themes:

And you would walk away with a portfolio of pieces written during the course — real work, not just notes.
WHO THIS IS FOR
This course is for you if:
- You have always felt drawn to writing but have never known where to start. You write occasionally but want to become more consistent, more skilled, and more confident.
- You have a message, a story, or an idea you want to put into the world but are not sure how.
- You want to write for your church, your community, your generation, or simply for yourself — and you want to do it well.
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Emmanuel Onimisi is the author of numerous works, both fiction and non-fiction. He has spent years honing his craft and helping writers at every stage of their journey, from the person staring at a blank page for the first time to the writer polishing a manuscript for publication.
What drives Emmanuel is not just a love of writing, but a belief that words have the power to edify, heal, challenge, and transform, and that there are people walking around right now with the gift to use them effectively, who simply haven’t been equipped to do so yet.
This course is his attempt to change that.

WHAT STUDENTS CAN EXPECT
What the experience looks like
Every Thursday evening, you log on to Zoom and spend an hour in a focused, engaging session with Emmanuel and a community of fellow writers. Each session is built around one module, taught with clarity and illustrated with practical examples, exercises, and real writing.
You will not just listen — you will write. Each module includes an assignment that asks you to apply what you have learned to a real piece of writing. These assignments are not graded in the traditional sense; they are opportunities to practise, receive feedback, and grow.
Between sessions, you will be part of a community group where you can ask questions, share what you are working on, and connect with other writers on the same journey.
By the end of the eight weeks, you will not just know more about writing. You will have written more — and written better — than at any point before.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is this really free?
Yes. The first cohort of the Basic Writing Course is entirely free. Future cohorts may carry a fee, so this is genuinely the best time to join.
Do I need any prior writing experience?
No. The course is designed to meet you wherever you are. Complete beginners and more experienced writers will find value in the material.
What if I miss a session?
All sessions are recorded. If you miss a class, you will be able to watch the recording before the next session. To receive your certificate, you need to attend a minimum of six out of eight sessions and submit your assignments on time.
How much time will this take each week?
The live session is one hour on Thursday evenings. Assignments typically take between one and two hours to complete, depending on the module. So, you should expect to invest two to three hours per week in total.
Is this a Christian course?
The course is taught from a faith perspective and some of the themes draw on that context, but the writing skills taught are universal and applicable to any writing you want to do — personal, professional, or creative.
Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. Students who complete the course requirements — a minimum of 80% attendance and 80% assignment submission — will receive a certificate of completion.
How do I join?
Click the enrolment button, fill out the short form, and you’re in. You will receive a confirmation message with everything you need to know before the first session.
Your writing has been waiting long enough.
Eight weeks from now, you could still be thinking about starting. Or you could have written more than you have in the past year, and have the skills to keep going.
The first step is the simplest one.
